"And
not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed]
which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is
enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend."
~ Holy Quran, Chapter (Surah) 41 (Fuşşilat) - Verse (Ayah) 34
Many times in my life I had the experience of getting something from people, a gift, a nice word, a smile... it makes me
feel great and feel loved by that person, even more it makes me feel
blessed and think for the reason that Allah sent me that person and that
gift, sometimes it comes as a mercy in the toughest times and sometimes
just to remind me there are still loving and caring people, those are
who leave unforgettable imapcts in our lives, and those are who will be
forever remembered.
But then I had another experience that not
only produced hapiness, but also generated enlightenment inside my
heart, it's the gift of giving. For as long as I can remember of my life
I've loved to give people from what I call 'available love resources',
it simply shows people how much I care, and how much their happiness
matters to me, and without waiting for anything in return, that's the
beauty of it!... I've trained myself to do good for people and then
forget about it, do it very often, even for a stranger and even more for
someone who hurt me or did bad to me or just held grudge or any bad
feelings towards me, I found that giving helps me a lot with those
people, maybe not all of them but many of them.
The most
important benefit of giving is that it helps me be more self-confident,
more content and satisfied about myself, it helps me release stress, and
I've learned to love myself through giving.
If we looked
inside the art of giving more deeply we can find it's what brings people
closer to each other, it is what spreads the word of love among people,
it is what humanity is all about and based on, but we have to turn it
from a mandatory obligation to a life choice and a habit. If we trained
ourselves to give each other from our love resources, the world would be
so much better.
Giving can be anything, a good word, a smile,
a hug, an advice, a physical or virtual present, a charity (Sadaqah)...
The list is very long and I leave it to your imagination. And let us
not say "I give to those who are in need" because everyone is in need, I
am in need, you are in need, we are in need... of giving... to give and
to be given.
And don't forget that in the end all of that will be rewarded from Allah Almighty.
With all my love...
Randa
